Who is Fit and Funky?
From fractions to fitness
For 10 years, I taught in elementary schools shaping my students into all the rocket scientists and mathematicians you probably know today. I focused on creativity in the classroom, making learning fun and meaningful through “mathercizes”—math meets exercise—and amazing songs to help those math skills stick in your head for life (next time you see me, be sure to have me sing you On Top of a Fraction in the tune of On Top of Old Smoky).
Although I might not look like it, my students would probably tell you my rap skills were fierce and someday I still secretly hope to be thanked on stage when one of those 5th graders grows up and wins a Grammy.
Team Fit and Funky
In 2010, a cute blonde girl with big Texas hair introduced me to Beachbody. I had no idea at the time just how much that one decision would change my life, but fast forward to 2012, I had resigned from teaching to become a full-time Beachbody Coach.
Since then, I’ve created success I could have only dreamed about during my struggles as a teacher. I’ve had the opportunity to travel the world, share my voice, and help thousands of people improve their bodies, minds, and finances. Team Fit and Funky is more than a group of difference makers—we’re family—and if you’re looking for a group of like-minded people to inspire positive change in your life, we welcome you with open arms.
“I’m still a teacher. My audience is just different.”
You can take the teacher out of the classroom, but you can’t take the classroom out of the teacher. I may have left the chalk behind, but now I write on a wall that speaks to the world and my platform is much more than fitness.
Beachbody LIVE Master Trainer
Through running Beachbody test groups, I have the privilege of taking people new to their fitness journey through physical and mental transformations that shape the rest of their lives.
One of my favorite parts about being a Master Trainer is creating and filming exclusive workouts for Beachbody On Demand. Since I can’t do live events in every city, this way we can work out together anytime, anywhere, from any of your devices. Video Talent Team
Whether I’m mic’d up to lead or I’m modifying to motivate, I love nothing more than helping create a workout that has the potential to inspire change in people forever. Here are some of the fitness videos you can find me in:
“Modifying is not a disease.”
Ever since MAX:30 came out, I’m always hearing from people who follow along with me as the modifier just how motivated they are to see that modifying delivers serious results. So often, people assume that modifying won’t get you more fit, but in reality, we all need to regress exercises to get the most out of our workouts.
I’m not too fit to modify—I’m fit because I modify!
Whenever you reach a point during a workout where you’re so burned out that your form starts to break, I want you to look at that fatigue as opportunity. Instead of pushing through with unsafe form or stopping to recover, drop to a modification to fully exhaust your muscles and maximize your results!
Remember, modifying is never about doing less—it’s about always doing more, so move with intensity throughout every inch of each movement, whether on the ground or in the air.
Building relationships through social media
When I started out on this online fitness journey, I didn’t even have a Facebook account and I was pretty bummed Myspace was gone. Now, social media is my voice and through it I’m able to speak to a world that extends far beyond the walls of my old classroom.
Where my lesson plans once shaped the minds of 20 students, my posts now reach millions of people online. Still, my responsibility is the same—to lead by example and instill the confidence to lead healthier, happier, and more successful lives.
It turns out that all these years of trial and error prepared me for my next role as a teacher—training others how to successfully build their brands online. I always say, social media isn’t something you have to do—it’s something you get to do! And I love helping you realize the power of how to do that effectively.
“Chief $h#! thinker-upper” for Shaun T
Officially, I’m the Creative Director for Shaun T, but unofficially, they like to joke that I’m the “chief $h#! thinker-upper”. From ideas and projects, to workouts and live events, I help Shaun T connect to the world so he can inspire change to make the world a better place.
Friends. Partners. Natonis.
If one title described me best, it’d be Mrs. Natoni. In marrying Darren, I chose a future with my best friend, my partner in life, and the key to my heart.
Every day of our marriage we celebrate our love. I think that's what makes it so magical. It’s not about big milestones or recognizing time passed, but rather being conscious of the everyday small moments that make our love so big.
I had to discover the best in me before I could find the best for me.
But our fairytale love didn’t happen by accident. It wasn’t determined by fate. First, I had to find the best in me before I could ever find the best for me. The greatest lesson Darren has taught me in our time together is that we must never settle. Always pursue your best!
If you’d like to hear the full story of how Darren and I found each other, check out the interview we did with Shaun T the day before he married us.
The most important job I have.
People often joke that being a mom is the hardest job on the planet. The thing about that…it’s no joke! Being a mom means being a molder of humans—an enormous responsibility that should never be taken lightly.
The hardest part about being a parent is knowing that I have a duty to be a mom first and a friend second. Because it’s my job to turn my two girls into amazing adults, loving them unconditionally means making the hard choices that aren’t always easy or enjoyable. But this also means I get to experience the immense pride in watching them blossom into young women who will make a beautiful difference in the world.
